PEIN Notes
When I was first called a naturalist, I was very pleased, not by the notion that I had been given a professional status, but became I was glad to be included in that company. In school I had heard great things said about such famous naturalists as Charles Darwin. As the years went by, I found a certain resistance in adult society to my often inchoate enthusiams. Nature, it seemed, was accept able only of it did not get in your way. That this greater world of life should be outside human experience was a puzzle to me.
